Bob Birdsong


Bob moved to South Florida at the age of 7 and attended Nova Middle and High schools. He went on to become a Michigan State University Spartan and left after being accepted into the United States Naval Academy. He served 10 years in the Navy as the Engineering Officer on the USS Narwhal, SSN 671, and as an Instructor and Division Officer at Naval Nuclear Power School and Naval Nuclear Field “A” School. Upon leaving the Navy in 1990, he went to work for OK Generators. Bob purchased the company with a partner in 1998 and bought out the partner in 2004. He completed second degree in Electrical Technologies from NYU in 2003.

Bob is a passionate member of the South Florida community. He has been involved in a number of philanthropic endeavors and local boards, and has been recognized for his military service, career and charitable work. His accolades include:

  • Earning a Navy Achievement Medal during his service in the United States Navy (1980-1990)
  • Serving in the Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary from 1988-1992
  • Being an instructor for the Electrical Generation Systems Association (EGSA) power genera-tion school, where he developed curriculum and teaches basic and advanced course tracks (12 years)

  • Board Chair of the Broward Health Foundation (2013-2016)
